Infamous in
the S.F. Business Community, The Lord of The Bulls has been shown
on the floor of the Pacific Stock Exchange (PSE) during trading hours
on seven different occasions between l985 and 1997. Each time the
Dow set a new record.
On Jan. 20,
1992, a disastrous fire, destroyed Tom's home and studio. Tom went
into the burning building and rescued the Bull sculpture and his companion,
Ursus, the Bear. It took two years to rebuild (studio and house) and
a year to restore the badly damaged sculptures. At his "coming out"
party at the Pacific Stock Exchange on Nov 2, 1995 the market closed
at an all-time high and prompted Dan Lavene to say, "The seven foot
high wooden icon has developed a reputation for possessing mystical
market moving powers."
